Accounts Assistant

The Role
Prepare accounts and corporation tax returns for limited companies
Prepare accounts for sole traders and partnerships
Assist with personal, business and
accurate financial record‑keeping
Prepare VAT returns and help clients with digital record‑keeping
Communicate with clients, gather information and respond to queries
Maintain high‑quality working papers and files
Use cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and CCH
Support colleagues and contribute to the smooth running of the office

About You
AAT Level 4 qualified or close to completion

Salary: £37,500 to £46,215 (location depending)
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
Location: Hybrid / throughout UK

The role
As a Functional Assessor your main task will be to assess individuals and how their disabilities or conditions affect their work life. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you'll listen carefully and take down each person's medical history. You'll then produce concise, accurate reports for the DWP so they can decide each person's eligibility for benefits.
The role involves meeting people both face-to-face and via telephone/video. But whether you connect online or in person, you'll be sensitive, compassionate and able to ask the right questions while upholding best practice standards.
Rest assured that you'll have the time you need to make a precise assessment and give each person your whole attention. And while you'll work unsupervised, you'll be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team - support is all part of the package.

Essential:
Registered Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Paramedic with a minimum 12 months, post registration experience
Fully registered with either NMC / HCPC, with a valid PIN without any restrictions.

Eligible to work in the UK without a visa. (Unfortunately, sponsorship is not possible.)

Are you an experienced Accountant Manager with ACA, ACCA or equivalent and a genuine passion for leading people and building client relationships? You’ll take ownership of an established portfolio, nurture client relationships, guide and develop a talented team, and play a key role in shaping the continued growth of the practice.
General Leadership & Portfolio Management
Embrace the firm’s vision, mission and values — translating these into everyday actions that inspire, guide and develop others
Manage a portfolio of clients while building and maintaining strong relationships with both new and established clients
Assist in producing and presenting proposals for new work
Lead on recruitment, onboarding and development of team members
Take day‑to‑day responsibility for people management and development, including:
Providing regular, constructive feedback to build capability
Motivational leadership and team engagement
Completing performance reviews, 121s and probation reviews
Business Development
Actively seek opportunities to develop and grow business across the firm

Support Partners/Directors with tender proposals
Undertake external speaking engagements where required
About You
ACA, ACCA or equivalent
Strong people management and leadership skills
